As a volunteer, you feel valued. You know you can make a difference – and you do.
As a small charity that donates 100% of funds direct to its projects, Music for Africa relies heavily on voluntary support. It’s quite simply essential. We’re very grateful to the ‘family’ of loyal friends and supporters who’ve helped out over the years, making Music for Africa the success it is.
It’s good fun helping out at the concerts, feeling involved and having a real role to play.
As an event steward the arrangements are flexible – you can do as much or as little work as you like. By helping out before and/or afterwards you can be free to enjoy the concerts with family and friends. But once you’ve made a commitment, you do of course need to keep it.
Volunteers can also take advantage of cash-back on entrance ticket costs: the bigger your contribution, the better the deal.
What’s involved? How you could help – and when:
In Advance: with site set-up: pitching tents, erecting fences, displaying signs, etc.
On The Day: as an event steward: collecting tickets, selling programmes & raffle tickets, directing people, providing on-site support, etc.
Morning After: help with the clean-up operation, Saturday and Sunday mornings and on Sunday, with site clearance: striking tents, removing fences, signs, etc.
Please do get in touch if you’d like to help out: we’d love to hear from you.
You may have one or many skills: in management, planning, co-ordination, project management, staff management, marketing, PR, selling, copy-writing, computer-use, administration, secretarial work,
networking, fund-raising, bid-writing, teaching music, playing & performing… Or you may have experience as a volunteer elsewhere, knowledge of Charity governance, or experience as a trustee.
Or you may simply be enthusiastic, keen to help and have other strengths, skills, experience and ideas that we’ve not identified.
Please do get in touch if you’d like to help out: we’d love to hear from you.
Why get involved with Music for Africa?
You’re inspired by the idea of making a difference and helping bring music into the lives of children in Africa. There are also other considerations that lead people to help us:
as a student or recent graduate you may need work experience
if you’re between jobs, you may have more time on your hands than normal
maybe feeling bored in your work/home-life and looking for new challenges, people and learning opportunities
you’ve retired and want to put your skills and expertise to good use
at home with young children, wanting interests outside the home
We’d like you to help in a way that best suit your skills, experience and best fits the rest of your life!
